Are families to blame for anorexia? Yes, according to Gisele Bundchen! Previously, she criticized skinny fashion models for not eating enough, and glossed over the fact that high-fashion models are required by fashion designers to maintain low body weight, i.e., fashion designers deserve the blame.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), along with some physicians/fitness trainers, have made some recommendations – as part of a health initiative – to use healthy fashion models! The recommendations have no mention of a minimum body mass index or, of course, an enforcement provision. Looks like some American fashion designers, facing increasing public criticism of skinny fashion models, have decided to show faux concern for the health of models and attempted to quell criticism by proposing guidelines that they will skirt in numerous ways.

Nightmarish new regulations in effect for gay fashion designers in Italy: 1) no using 14-year-old girls anymore; 16+ girls only; 2) models need to provide medical evidence that they don't suffer from eating disorders; 3) fashion collections need to add larger dress sizes, and other changes proposed to redefine "feminine beauty." How in the world are the poor gay designers now going to come up with female models that resemble boys in their early adolescence? They will have to settle for a late-adolescent boyish look. Note the statement in the following report, "Calls to offices of major Italian designers seeking comment Friday evening went unanswered." The gay designers are speechless. The interesting thing will be to see how successfully the new regulations are implemented.

Previous parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. This entry addresses Alessandra Ambrosio, yet again, but then I am a great fan of Alessandra and hope that she acknowledges my existence. She has twice deleted --at her fan forum -- links to pages within this site that pay a tribute to her beauty. How sad! Here is another tribute. Please Alessandra, don’t delete a link to this entry.

The title of this entry stems from a comment elsewhere, which some found laughable, and it needs to be justified. The justification requires that one show that a large number, though not necessarily all, of Victoria’s Secret models have the looks of male-to-female transsexuals or male transvestites. It would also help if one showed that Victoria’s Secret models that do not have a transsexual or transvestite look to them are still not feminine enough for their job.
