To the honey who did not leave her name, as often in the past: I do not believe I have argued that a man who happens to be attracted to a woman who is naturally androgynous is gay. In the case of an individual, this person could be perfectly straight. In the case of the man who married Ambrosio, there could be any number of reasons, including those unrelated to sexual inclination. I can think of a large number of straight men who would marry Alessandra Ambrosio in a heartbeat because this is one woman that is often traveling because of her work, and her riches can be used to obtain all the feminine hotties one wants with the wife being none the wiser.

You need to look at the matter in statistical terms. What can one infer about the men who find esthetically pleasing or fantasize about androgynous or mannish-looking females? Not your typical straight males. Not typically straight does not necessarily mean gay as there are the atypically straight and those between gay and straight. Fantasy is important because the cover is not from a publication offering its escorts to men, in which case you would have a difficult time finding many examples of showcasing involving the likes of Ambrosio above if the escort agency is targeting the general male population.

Ex-liberal Caroline: Apparently you have acquired a deep dislike of liberals, and I do not think you will like me as I tend to have liberal attitudes on many counts, certainly regarding comments as you have observed.

When childish insults are mixed with valid arguments, the insults should be ignored. Whereas these insults are offensive, I am offending people, too, with this site even if I avoid similar language.

When a comment is full of insults and lacks valid points, then it is seen for what it is.

In all the years this site has been up, I can recall only one person who hurled so much abuse, posting as different people, that I had to remove two or three of her abusive comments and ask her to not post as different people. She behaved thereafter and finally left.

So the insults are overall not a problem. Ignore them and concern yourself with the arguments, if any.

Erik I don't know why you even allow insulting, politically correct, brainwashed liberals whom have taken over the Western world and turned it into an asylum to comment on this website. Apologies for my harsh language but we already digest their madness in sufficient quantities in real life. Restrict and ban them please. Get rid of and block any troll who calls you Hitler, racist, cross-dresser, hypocrite, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, woman hater, equality hater, regressive, human rights abuser, greedy and any other adjective or label that can be thought of. Delete their comments. They don't deserve your time.

Fri, 12/16/2011 - 10:23 Aaron Leg-length to height ratio and attractiveness

The flaw with those illustrations is that men with longer legs also tend to have much longer arms, bigger hands, and bigger feet... Long legs = the build of virtually all great big basketball players, football players, and heavyweight fighters. Shaq is all legs, as are most fullbacks and linebackers, as is Brock Lesnar.

Long legs seems more masculine to me, for men... Long torso is a terrible build, usually contributing to narrow shoulders, small hands, small feet, and less masculine and sturdy bone structure.

Fri, 12/16/2011 - 03:21 Amo Will a union help fashion models?

Why I need help NOW...

No, Fox news Right Wing writers, not all models are Victoria Secret supermodels, or 13 year olds privileged to wear designer threads with parents to provide for them.
I'm 21 and I signed with a major agency this year in California. The contract requires I be available M-F 9am-5pm and basically whenever they require me to be available, with no guarantee of regular work or castings. I don't have a trust fund to live off of so I do have to work to pay the bills. Two months ago I got a request photo shoot for a big name client who would pay me $4,000 (minus 20% agency fee) but I had to take the day off of work. A few weeks later I was laid off/fired and replaced "for poor availability". Meanwhile I have yet to be paid for the supposed big shoot and the client legally has 90 days before my agency will contact their accounting department across the country to call the client to ask again for my pay. I will never know when I get this money.
How is this legal?????

My rent is over due, my utilities are being shut off and my bills have delinquency notices.

I have been trying to find another day job, applying everywhere with a good resume, but all I could get is a hostessing minimum wage part time job that will barely buy gas to get to work and a few microwave meals.

Other than the major pay issue, here are other modeling industry disgraceful conditions I have experienced:

- Starvation (no food or water provided, and no breaks to eat, and eating generally discouraged)
- Being forced to stand for long periods of time (worried about "wrinkling the dress" while I wear 5 inch heels and wait 3 hours back stage)
- No overtime (starting at 4am ending at 5pm)
- Hazardous conditions (toxic makeup, exploding lights, dangerous locations, all weather with little clothing: several times I was forced to shoot in the freezing cold with no blankets/jacket which resulted in catching the flu, putting me out of work for weeks)
- Agencies scamming models by refusing models the right to talk directly to the client about pay, so the agency can cycle the pay through departments to take more than 20% and skim unknown fees off the top.

Modeling is not as glamorous and easy as many assume. It's a pillar of the Marketing and Entertainment Industries and with out modeling, economies world wide would likely collapse. It is a real job, and it is a hard job believe it or not. Many of us are just trying to make a living and pay for school. There are millions of models, not just the ones making it big, and even they can tell you it's NOT just "standing and looking pretty"... We need to stop letting ourselves be taken advantage of, but we can't do it alone.

Actors are protected by unions, SAG and AFTRA. Why aren't models?!

Wed, 12/14/2011 - 22:05 Visitor Two anecdotes on the fashion model look

Wow, I can't believe that, after years, this website is still claiming that there is set, objective, and specific type of beauty for everybody, (nevertheless that this site is even still existent!)

"Larkin forgot to mention that the demographic that finds a woman stunning and sensational if she has the appearance of a young man in make-up and long hair comprises of men of the non-heterosexual variety."

Obviously starving models unecesarily is wrong and promotes eating disorders, yaddayaddadeadhorse. But this comment is straight up rude... not to mention completely unrealistic and ignorant. Do you really believe that if a man happens to be attracted to a woman who is naturally androgynous then he is gay? Do you actually think that Ambrosio's husband married her because he is gay and she looks like a man? (Which she does not.) If so, then you should think about taking some time off of your little website to learn about the real world.

Wed, 12/14/2011 - 03:26 ? Claire: for the skeptics

Her profile has a childish element that does not agree with me, but otherwise she looks like an eighteen-year old, and a lovely one at that. Delicately-featured, with smooth, even-toned light beige skin. I can't believe all the mockery over her skin color (and that of similarly complected Europeans) coming from people who no doubt hypocritically consider themselves above racism. These sorts, I have noticed, will put up quite a fight to defend the beauty of equally pale (often artificially so) Asian or Middle Eastern types, but will whip out the "pasty" and "white trash" immediately when it comes to a pretty white girl. I wonder why this is. Could somebody unbiased elaborate?

Below, three Asian women that, despite having less color and vitality to their skin than Claire or the average untanned European, are likely to engender only compliments from the same people that attack light skinned Europeans for being "pasty."

Wed, 12/14/2011 - 00:59 adrey Does Miranda Kerr have a broad nose or am I biased?

Regardless of surgery or not her current nose is just gross, its one of those things that once you notice its hard to stare at anything but that... Check her out plenty of pics at vs.com its funny I never noticed before cause shes wholly beautiful until u notice the nose! It's impossible to take your eyes off that hobbit-like nose

Knightingale: In #24, #25 you asked about eye placement. Look at the following (the more feminine shape is on the left) and follow the idea, taking a cue from the deformation of the background grid: http://www.femininebeauty.info/images/face.shape.gif [you can tell that your moving down the eyes in #27 is an improvement]

The eyes/eye sockets appear relatively larger in women.

You will also find the three articles linked here useful regarding eye placement: http://www.femininebeauty.info/aesthetics/eyebrows

On how low you should place the cheekbones, experiment and follow your preferences. Thinness of the cheekbones is not the same as the width of the cheekbones. Thinness refers to the amount of bone deposited. To make a face look more feminine, you should not add a lot of bone mass in the arches of the cheekbones (what you find just below the temples) as this area becomes more robust with masculinization.

You presented the following two images as if they conflict with what I am telling you:

http://www.femininebeauty.info/images/laser.scan.2.jpg [image 1]

http://www.femininebeauty.info/i/m.profile1.gif [image 2]

In image 1, the entire jaw is retracting whereas in image 2 only the lower jaw is moved. So there is no conflict. But let us add to this.

Consider the following:

http://www.femininebeauty.info/images/skulls.jpg [image 3]

http://www.femininebeauty.info/images/dimorph2.gif [image 4]

In image 3, the female skull is on the left. Note the horizontal dimension of the jaw, which appears shape-wise greater than the corresponding dimension of the male skull. This is the kind of effect you are looking at if you want faces to look feminine, and why I said “shift the lower third of the face (below the nose) forward in your female that you posted the very first time.” But the lower third of the face is shifted backward with increasing feminization in image 1. What is going on?

Notice that image 1 focuses on the face only and shows the outline of soft tissue on a female face, whereas image 3 addresses the entire skull, does not consider soft tissue and shows both a clearly masculine and clearly feminine skull. A careful examination shows that female skulls are more protruding in the teeth region and have shorter jaws, thus leading to the appearance in side view of a jaw with a greater horizontal shape-wise dimension [image 4]. A slightly more protruding lip region is observable when you compare the male soft tissue outline with the female soft tissue outline in the bottom row of http://www.femininebeauty.info/images/laser.scan.1.jpg [image 5]. To add to this, the flesh on the face is thicker in men. At the same time, the absolute size of skulls is larger in men, and with increasing skull size, the jaws become more protruding. So when you move from women to men, the increase in skull size tends to make the mouth region more protruding in men, whereas the increase in masculinization tends to move the mouth region inward, the two things canceling each other to some extent, but with a high level of masculinization, the horizontal dimension of the jaw will appear as in image 3 compared to a female skull.

Don’t be confused by the minutiae. The take home message is that if you want the face to look feminine in side view, have the horizontal dimension of the jaw overall look like image 3 and when it comes to the soft tissue outline of the jaw, keep in mind the outlines in image 5.

Alyssa: I doubt that pictures of nude women, especially those slightly censored, are damaging sexual drive in men. To me it also appears that people have a preference for hair in some places but not others, regardless of pornography. One does not have to be influenced by pictures of nude men to find more appealing hair on the scalp with or without a lush beard than baldness with a lush beard. Similarly, a hair distribution condition that exaggerates somewhat the sex differences will be found more appealing in women even if people are less exposed to fully nude women.

Cultural differences are acknowledged within this site and even addressed to some extent: http://www.femininebeauty.info/beauty-in-eye-of-beholder and http://www.femininebeauty.info/aesthetics/ethnic-preferences

Whether men and women have different tastes regarding what is considered attractive has been extensively examined in a systematic manner, and the conclusion is that they overwhelmingly share the same tastes: http://www.femininebeauty.info/aesthetics/gender

Time on the order of centuries plays less of a role in changing the attractive female form than you think. Here is an example: http://www.femininebeauty.info/medieval-body-size-preferences

This site is not creating a feminine ideal. A mainstream or majority preference for the feminine form in women already exists, but a mainstream outlet where the best of such forms can be admired does not, and will not unless something is done about it.

The notion of foisting one’s preferences on others applies to the fashion designers who have gone beyond the confines of the fashion world and not even spared beauty pageants catering to the general public. I have no wish to force my preferences on others. The fashion designers can have their pick, let me have mine in a mainstream setting (not men’s magazines or websites featuring nude women).

Erik, do you find feminine men to be more beautiful as well? Because really a feminine woman will give birth to a more feminine man. It seems you wish you were more feminine. Maybe you wish you were a woman. If you have the best intentions in mind, maybe you should start cross-dressing and leave women alone.

The beauty of women is a feminine gender specification. In addition to female body characteristics, feminine way of dressing is very important for fashion making.

A lot of images from your page are all pornography;
Experts say that pornography is actually damaging sexual drive in men (and some women) to the point where there is "overwhelming let down" because sex has become performance art.
It is even beginnng to influence girls as young as 10 to 'denaturalize" their bodys by removing hair. Comments from some young girls expresses alarm at public hair appearance at the onset of puberty, believing it was unnatural. This reaction to a basic biological development is unacceptable in society.

If you want to aid society, first accept that cultural differences exist on bueaty standards and as the world is globalized, these standards will intermingle with western ideals of beauty.

Men and women have different tastes on what is considered attractive. To want to create an "feminine ideal" is like astroturfing diversity; It simply cannot happen, and is an exercise in futility.

Ideals have varied over centuries and can easily be observed through art, adn thus we can expect the morphology of a popular females forms to continue to vary from one end of the spectrum to the other; Over time, evolution may decide to do away OR enhance sexual dimorphism depending on environmental conditions.

At the endof the day your own sexuality is a personal and subjective matter, and one must not foist your views upon others; as a species were are filled with diversity, and though you may feel the pendulum has swung one way in teh media no doubt it can swing the opposite. Enjoy your life, your women, and allow others to enjoy theirs.

Black and White people are the best looking races in the world.
forget asians. asians are disgusting. ugly. horrible.
asians can't even treat their own people with respect and dignity, they've inflicted and forced cannibalism upon eachother example; japanese cunts forced the koreans they captured to eat the dead bodies of their fellow soldiers.
Disgusting.
China ravaged and destroyed The Dalha Lama's home, in the end the Dhala lama had to leave their homeland. and move to india.
The most peaceful, good being in the world and that's how china treats them??
Gross. Vile.
Those chinks just jealous of the Tibetans because the Tibetans are a good peaceful people. something chinks can and never will be.
Chinks are just ignorant. arrogant. ugly. soulless and evil. Same goes for Japs.
And koreans just got their head so far up their ass, they have their parents pick their nose for them.
And Thias are just filth and dirt. they don't care about their kids, their own people. that's why they got all those pedos over there fucking them.
Disgusting.
asians are ugly and horrible. inhuman and sick.

>Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox looked beautiful, even more so before the surgery.
Angelina Jolie has always had a small nose.

>asians don't have small noses. they have flat noses.
there's a difference.

>To the dumb cunt that says white people age fastest? i don't know if you've noticed but it depends on the diet, the upkeep of their skin and exercise.
the average asian ugly is very into their appearance and has a constant beauty care regime. they are told from an early age to look after their skin etc
they often do anti age facial massages.

White people do not bother much with this. they're more laid back. only those that are into their looks and beauty age better as they look after themselves.
this applies to everyone.
if asians didn't take so much time and care into their looks by all the facial massages they do, their diet etc, then they'd age much worse.

White people are the only ones to have fair white skin, variation of hair colour and eye colour. and those asians get so bored with their boring puffed up flat face, they just ahve to dye their hair and put in contacts. lol. s a d .
good luck with the conjunctivitus asian uglies.

And Gemma Ward, she is white. and guess what. she's the prettiest girl in the world.
deal with it.
not of you asian fuglies can compete with a really pretty white girl. you all get jealous.
as i've seen for myself in the street; I was walking down town some day and thise unbelievably pretty white girl walked passed these two dumpy ugly asian cunts.
the two asian non beauty greasy slags sniggered at her, laughing as they talked in their ching chang chong shit. disgusting. fuck asians.
They're so jealous of pretty white girls. white girls that are so more pretty than them, they can't stand it.
cause these asians are so fake with all their makeup and shit, they're ugly.
all they can do is create the illusion of beauty.
but you take that mask off. you see how boring and ugly they are.

Fri, 12/09/2011 - 18:54 Fuck all those ... Tyra Banks on honesty

O asians are the prettiest race.

That's why they all have flat faces like that of apes, and a more prominent jaw, just like an ape. asians got fucking eyes that look like an ape/monkey. they're just fucking boring and ugly. don't look like human at all. just seems they failed evolving from the ape and got stuck half way. Hahaha Ugly Gorilla looking race. with their wide noses that go half way across they're face.
if i wanted to fuck an ape. i'd go to asia. But i'm not into beastilality.
ps. an ugly white individual is far better looking than you, DonaldDickface.

Wed, 12/07/2011 - 22:01 Laura Self-esteem issues related to the feminine beauty site

one more fact: People are attracted to people that they can feasibly mate with. in very rare instances you will see an "ugly" person with a "beautiful" person, but one usually sees couples that are equally attractive. Attraction is more than physical beauty as well. Other factors such as money, status, having "types", and a good old fashioned personality all come into play (cue images of Hugh Heffner, womanzing rockstars, and tech nerds with trophy wives), but i digress.
When you think someone is unattractive, you might just be looking at someone who's attraction level ( if you want to call it that)is not near yours.
